Interesting Book But There's a Better One to Read First

This book is interesting but also somewhat esoteric and opinionated. A much more useful book to start out with is LIFETYPES by Sandra Krebs Hirsh and Jean Kummerow. They also cover Myers-Briggs temperament preferences but in a more straightforward, readable, and immediately usable way. I am a psychologist and I have found LIFETYPES to be perhaps the most personally and professionally useful book I've ever found. If, after reading it, you want to explore different approaches to temperament and explore the topic in greater depth, then David Keirsey's work would be of interest.

Great and indepth

My sister actually got me interested in understanding personality types. I noticed we were getting along so much better than we ever had prior including more in-depth conversations. She told me she thought I was an ISFP. Which of course I had no clue what that meant. She told me to read the section on SP and SJ personality types. I did the test FOUR different times ENFJ and Guardian, which she wholly disagreed. I started reading what the test had told me I was and I thought Sure! That sounds like me! I must be that one! After about 5 times choosing what I "thought" I was, until I read the section on the ISFP, but it still didn't quite click. THEN I read on the "SP"!! It was the strangest thing to actually see myself in black and white! It was insane!!! All my traits, all the things I thought I had issues on, I now completely understood the reason WHY I was doing certain things. I also understood why I wasn't able to get along or communicate with, and understand them as well. And understand how I could not get along with the people my own personality types! Now that I understand more and the reasons for the clash, I can choose another, and better, approach to communicate. It is a little hard to get into. You first need to start to try to find your own personality type, and you can't decide right away. If you start getting frustrated you must give yourself a break and come back too it later. The more you read the closer you will be to identify with the them, and, in turn, understand the people around you. Love this book! I also read that thing system to identify personality traits have been around for thousands years. Also the Please Understand Me II is extremely similar, just a little more in-depth and different scenarios to help relate to people and situations.

Incredibly Useful Book for Understanding Myself and Others

I've found this book very helpful for self introspection throughout several major life transitions over the years. I first found it in college and have returned to it many times. It is interesting to see how the understanding I gain from this book evolves as I mature and age. I've purchased this book multiple times because I keep loaning it to friends who also find it useful.

Please Understand Me II has been a great resource as I struggled to find my career path and in understanding my significant other from our early dating relationship to our marriage. It has also been useful in understanding how I interact with my friends and raising my children.

It has given me a clearer picture of myself and others and lead to a greater appreciation for the differences in strengths and weaknesses we all have.

One thing to caution, the personality quiz is highly subjective and the results should not be viewed as hard and fast. It should be used to guide you in the right direction, but might not be entirely accurate right away. It is more important to read and understand the differences of the personality types and contemplate how they reflect who you are.

Anytime I am in a challenging transition in my life I have been able to use this book as a tool to understand myself on a deeper level and find clarity. It is easy to read and I highly recommend this book.

Love Ever After High

I really enjoyed the second installment in the Ever After Series. They are so much more detailed and engaging then either of the Monster High book series and so I give all the credit in the world to Shannon Hale. Shannon is an amazing author of her own works and I think she has done such a great job working her own personality and skills into the Ever After books. I think I enjoyed the first book "Legacy Day" just a little more than this one....I thought the riddle treasure hunt drug on a little too long but that is certainly my only complaint. I loved getting a better perspective on Apple White in this novel. I wasn't sure I cared for her much in Legacy Day and this book did a good job of showing us who exactly Apple is and where her heart is coming from. I do think its time to let Apple and Raven Queen take a seat and let us see more of these amazing characters that are far too often in the background. This is splendid and engaging series for children, teens and adults.

Hexciting Sequel

I am a big fan of the first Ever After High book, so I had high hopes for the second installment. This book has just as much adventure and fun as the first. We get to learn a little more about some of the supporting characters and watch several more entertaining chats with the narrator. Ever After High fans who watch the webisodes should have no problem starting with this book if for some reason they want to skip the first (but you will want to read them all).

I am definitely a Shannon Hale fan now. I recommend this book to anyone who would enjoy a fresh take on classic fairy tale characters.

better than the first

This book was even better than the first book STORYBOOK OF LEGEND. I loved reading the results of Raven's actions and how Raven's mother in her mirror prison hopes her daughter is turning as evil as she is. Besides Raven quest to the answers she seeks for the need to rebel meeting with Red Riding Hood among these she seek answers from. Red Riding Hood's daughter turned out to be among my favorite section of this story as well as Maddie Hatter as she was as fantastic here as she was in book 1. I don't know if this series is continuing any further but this is a book for all those into fractured fairy tale stories.
