What a great book! My husband and I were searching for a book regarding prayer petitions but could find none until we came across Mr. Savelle's book. Unlike others who were very vague in explaining what an actual prayer petition is, Mr. Savelle went above and beyond. Both my husband and I finished the book in about a week and both walked away with a through understanding of not only what a prayer of petition is, but how to actually prepare one's self on how to write one. I think it's sad that hardly anyone teaches this highly important spiritual concept. Thank-you Mr. Savelle.

very good book Jerry has done the Christian world a favor by writing this book..Like everything concerning faith though, it has to be applied. The gift of faith doesn't come about by reading about faith but by acting on your faith and that will always be a challenge because the closer you get to God's truth the more more the devil will try and rob you of it. Like Smith Wigglesworth says, when that happens you have to trust in God for the strength to press on to God and resist the devil

It has been my experience that this book is a life changer. Anyone who would like to see God do wonderful things in their lives should read this book and put the prayers of petition into practice. Jerry Savelle has been praying this way for many years and the results in his life are miraculous indeed. Praise God for such a wise man. He and his daughter also have some great videos on Youtube that are great to watch as well; lots of great information.

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome! If you really want to sit and learn the stylings of Duff McKagan, this book is great for it. While he does tend to play his bass as though he's playing guitar (which is certainly not terrible), he does have a unique style and sound that I have always enjoyed. His work on this album was a lot different than the UYI albums, as the bass lines there were minimalized quite a bit compared to Appetite (they're still great albums).

Be patient and don't expect to have every song down pat within a day or two. Take your time, song by song, and practice, practice, practice. Before you know it, you'll be jamming right along.

i thought ''Appetite for Destruction : Bass Guitar'' was reallya great transcription for bass guitar of a great album. i has musicand tab for all the songs. my favorite song is "Sweet Child of Mine" the bass line is modereratly easy and fun to play. i gave it a 5 because it is well written and easy to figure out

Like little scientists, babies draw accurate conclusions from data and statistical analysis, conduct clever experiments and figure out everything from how to get mom to smile at them to how to make a hanging mobile spin. Like adults, the author claims, babies are even capable of counterfactual thinking (the ability to imagine different outcomes that might happen in the future or might have happened in the past). Every parent should read this!

Don't be swayed by the austere title, what this book does best is corral and explain recent studies on what babies and toddlers understand and when: When do they start to feel empathy? When are they able to understand that hitting hurts? When can they be expected to understand rules? What's the deal with invisible friends? It's given me a new perspective and a lot more sympathy for my into-everything son.

It's also a page-turning easy read and utterly fascinating-- you'll want to go through with a highlighter to pick out all of the brilliant points.
Would make a great gifts for parents & parents-to-be!

Insight into the inner life of children

Have you ever wondered about the inner life of children, how they understand things, what their stream of consciousness is like, how they perceive the world, what their feelings are really like? I watched my own children grow up, talked with them daily, fed them, played with them, but always felt that I was missing a lot about their inner world. Gopnik answered some of my questions and showed me other questions that I hadn't thought of asking.

Gopnick argues, for example, that young children don't have the same self narrative adults have. I remember being appalled by my daughter's inability to describe what happened on her recent trip to the zoo. Gopnick argues that this happens because very young children haven't developed the story about themselves that allows them to go back and fetch prior events the way adults do. When I return from a trip to the zoo, I retain a story about finding a parking spot, paying admission, watching the monkeys near the entrance, etc. With very young children, there is no such narrative, only a series of events. These events are remembered. So if I ask a more direct question, like did you enjoy the monkeys in the big cage, she tells me about the big monkey chasing the smaller monkey.

Gopnik emphasizes the sophistication of children who can easily distinguish between imaginary, possible, and real objects. She tells us about how children can make sophisticated judgments about causal relationships after having seen only a few relevant events. She tells us how children can distinguish acts which are wrong because they hurt someone as opposed to things which are wrong because they are against the rules

Gopnik frames her discussion around philosophical themes such as reality versus fiction, discovery of reliable truth from messy observations, consciousness, nature of the self, love, morality, etc. She rightly argues that although topics such as these have long been important to philosophers, potential insights that could be provided by studying children have not been considered by philosophers.

Specialists will find this book unsatisfactory. There isn't a single graph. There are no statistics or numbers of any kind. There are no literature reviews describing areas where researchers get conflicting results. When experiments are reported at all, they are mentioned briefly with no detail. Gopnik is more interested in the big picture, discussing the main themes using mostly informal language. Just the same, she takes you through some of the toughest concepts in the field and isn't afraid to bring up technical terms, like lantern consciousness, whenever it is helpful to do so.

Finally, Gopnik's wit, graceful writing, and genuine feeling for children make her book a pleasure to read.

Crazy sci-fi

An interesting addition to the science-fiction genre, Enormity tells us of something made of nightmares. What would happen to our world when through some kind of quantum disaster, a completely normal person would blow up to the size of a mountain?

The answer to that is quite simple. Massive destruction of apocalyptic proportions. Every footstep will cause a tsunami. A sigh turns into a whirlwind. And not to mention satisfying a giant's hunger...

What I liked about Enormity are the epic proportions of the story. Every single detail is considered, and consequently clarified. By this I mean that ever aspect of the giants life is explored. From his dander to his sweat, his bacteria, to the effects of his movements and voice.

What I didn't like that much was that at times there was an information overload. Especially when talking about political situations or the different divisions in the army, it just went past me. More often than not I had no idea what they were on about, so I just started skipping these parts. Luckily it doesn't matter that much for the story, but I would like to have a little more explanation at times.

At times the story was pretty gross (especially when it involved giant bodily fluids) but it was an interesting and engaging read. The characters all had their distinct personalities. They might not all be that likeable, but they are understandable. If the premise interests you, be sure to check Enormity out!

I have a penchant for fiction/fantasy novels with identifiable characters who are either given exceptional gifts or placed into unusual situations. I thoroughly enjoyed Enormity and will anxiously await future novels written by Greatshell.
