A Must Read!!

"Don't Get So Upset" is one of the most compelling books I have read in my 40+ year career as an educator.
Once I began reading "Don't Get So Upset", I could not put it down. Although the focus of the book is education, it's scope is universal!
Dr. Jacobson has brought to the level of consciousness what can be missed or overlooked not only in the field of education but in any area where people work with others; that is, the affective domain. We learn content and skills, we learn to make decisions,to solve problems and what we need to do on our jobs. Motivation, attitudes, perceptions, values--our history and our past, all can and do affect how we learn and how we do our jobs.
Unfortunately, we often miss (and therefore we get so upset at learners and employees)the critical piece--the affective domain, that can significantly enhance, inhibit or even prevent growth and achievement.
Dr. Jacobson skillfully outlines strategies that teachers(and others)can use to increase their effectiveness by considering and adjusting their own affective domain. Every reader will be able to recognize the various elements and be able to identify with this book and hopefully can and will make the needed changes--I only wish some of those people who I had contact with in the past had also!!
This is a must read.
